ECGC invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for appointment as PROBATIONARY OFFICERS. Candidates are advised to apply ONLINE onlyon the dates mentioned below only through the Corporation's website at www.ecgc.in after carefully going through all the instructions contained in the Application Form and the general instructions given in the advertisement. No other means / mode of application form / Printout would be accepted.
The Online Registration will not be considered as valid unless the duly signed computer printout of the system generated application form along with the Demand Draft / Pay Order, photograph duly affixed and self attested copies of requisite certificates is received by ordinary post at the specified address (Refer Para 9 below).

(1) ECGC, a Government of India Enterprise, established in 1957 to promote India's
exports, functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and has its Head Office at Mumbai. ECGC provides credit insurance support to exporters and Bankers in India and plans to expand into other trade-related services. Having offices in all metros and major export centres in India, ECGC invites online applications for the post of Probationary Officers from eligible Indian citizens.

Eligibility Criteria (As on 30.06.2008): : Candidates must be not less than 21 years and not more than 30
(a) 5 years in upper age limit in case of SC/ST candidates
3 years in upper age limit for OBC candidates who have a certificate from the Competent authority with non-creamy layer clause.
5 years in upper age limit incase of Ex-servicemen (including
Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers) provided applicants have rendered at least five years continuous Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or/on account of physical disability or have been released on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or on invalidment.
Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers who have completed their initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service but whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues certificates that they would be released on selection within three months from the date of receipt of offer of appointment,
For PWD sub-category, relaxation of age by another 10 years in upper age limit in addition to the main category will be available.
(e) 5 years in upper age limit for all persons who have ordinarily been
domiciled in Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89.

The selected candidates will be offered a basic pay of Rs.11,110/- p.m. in the scale of Rs.11110-540-18670-560-20910. They will also be eligible for DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and CCA, as applicable. Starting monthly emoluments in metropolitan centres at the current rate of DA will be approximately Rs. 16,853/-. Other benefits include CPF, Gratuity, LTC, Medical benefits and group personal accident insurance, as per existing rules.
Application Fee (Non-refundable):
The application fee should be paid by 'Account Payee' Demand Draft / Banker's Pay Order drawn in favour of "ECGC of India Ltd.", and payable at Mumbai. No other financial instrument shall be accepted. The application fee for General, OBC and Ex-Servicemen category candidates is Rs. 300/-(Rupees Three hundred only) and for SC, ST and PWD category candidates is Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) to meet postage expenses. Fees sent separately i.e. not accompanied by duly signed printout of system generated application or payment in any other manner will not be accepted. Feesonce paid will not be refunded. The Candidate's name, Post applied for, System generated Registration Number and address should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft/ Pay Order. The Demand Draft/ Pay Order must be purchased on or after the date of opening of the Online Registration Gateway i.e. August 18, 2008, but before the close of business on the date of Closure of the Online Registration Gateway i.e. September 5, 2008. Even if the Corporation extends the last date of Registration due to technical reasons, the valid dates during which the DD/PO should be purchased should be within that period only. (5) Selection Process:
The Selection Process would comprise a Written Test followed by Group Discussion, Computer Literacy & Skill Test and Personal Interview. Candidates will have to appear for written examination at the respective centres chosen by them / allotted to them at their own expense. The written examination will be conducted on November 2, 2008. Only those candidates who qualify in all the written tests individually with prescribed minimum marks are called for Group Discussion, Computer Literacy & Skill test and Personal Interview. The number of candidates to be called for Group Discussion, Computer Literacy & Skill Test and Personal Interview will be at the discretion of the Corporation. Written Examination: The Written Examination will comprise of: Paper I (objective) : Objective Type Questions having four components viz. (a) Test of Reasoning, (b) Test of Quantitative Aptitude, (c) Test of General Awareness and (d) Test of English Language. Questions papers for the Written examination except the 'Test of English Language', will be set in Hindi and in English. Candidates may answer the questions at interview in Hindi or English, at their option. Paper II (Descriptive): Consists of short questions on a given situation that a candidate has to comprehend, analyze and express his/her views thereon. Note 1: Paper I (a), (b) and (c) and paper II can be taken either in Hindi or in English Note 2 : Paper II is of qualifying nature and marks obtained in this paper will not be reckoned for ranking. This test paper shall be evaluated only of those who are short-listed on the basis of their marks scored in each part of Paper I and total. The Written Test would be held at the following centers i.e. Bangalore (11), Chennai (12), Guwahati (13), Kolkata (14), Mumbai (15) and New Delhi (16). (Numbers within the bracket indicates Centre Code). Candidate can select any one center from the above-mentioned centers and indicate it in his/her application. Request for change of Centre will not be entertained. The Corporation, however, reserves the right to change/cancel any of the Centres for the written examination depending on the response/number of applications for a particular centre.
Candidates admitted to the Written Examination will be intimated the time and full address of the venue of Written Examination through
Letters. Candidates will not be admitted to the Written Examination without a valid call letter. Candidates are advised to visit the Corporation 's website in the second week of October 2008 to download their call letters from the Corporation’s website by entering their registration number and password. The call letter will be sent by e-mail and by post under UPS. In view of sending the Written Examination Call Letter online, no duplicate Call Letter would be issued to any candidate/s. (6) Pre-Recruitment Training (PRT):
In compliance with Government Guidelines, the Corporation would arrange free non-residential pre-recruitment training for interested eligible SC/ST/PWD/ Religious Minority Community candidates. The training will be organized in Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi in October 2008. The Corporation has the discretion to add or delete the centers in respect of pre-recruitment training. Candidates who desire to avail themselves of such training may indicate the same at the appropriate place in the application form. The candidates will have to make their own arrangements for travel and stay and meet all expenses. The pre-recruitment training will not confer on the candidate any right of recruitment in the Corporation. Details regarding the time, date and address of the venue of the Pre- recruitment training for the interested eligible candidates would be put on the Corporation's website. Provision will be made to issue Call Letter for PRT ONLINE. Other instructions, if any, in this regard would also be displayed on the website. Candidates are, therefore, advised to visit the Corporation's website at regular intervals for updates from around the first/second week of October 2008.
(7) Service Agreement cum Surety Bond:
Candidates selected for appointment shall, jointly with a surety of adequate means, execute a Service Agreement cum Surety Bond for an amount of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees three lacs only) undertaking to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years, including the period of probation.
(8) General Instructions:
(i) Before filling in the application form, the candidate must ensure that they
fulfill all the eligibility criteria with respect to age, educational qualifications, etc. as of June 30, 2008 in respect of the post applied. Before appearing for the Written Test/Group Discussion/Interview, the candidates should ensure that they are eligible according to eligibility criteria stipulated in the Advertisement. If the candidates are not eligible, their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the recruitment. If the candidate qualifies in the selection process and subsequently it is found that he/she does not fulfill the eligibility criteria, his/her candidature will be cancelled and if appointed, services would be terminated without any notice or compensation.
(ii) Applications to be submitted only through the online mode through the
Corporation's website. No other form of application would be accepted. The printout of the same should be downloaded, duly signed and should be sent along with a photograph (duly pasted on the application), applicable demand draft/pay order, self attested copies of certificates in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, caste (if any) and certificate in support of belonging to PWD or claiming any other age relaxation. Applications, in any other form and not accompanied by Demand Draft and attested copies of testimonials, illegible or mutilated or received after the prescribed date, will be rejected forthwith.
(iii) All candidates belonging to ST/SC/OBC/Ex-Serviceman/PWD should
enclose attested copy of the ST/SC/OBC/Ex-Serviceman/PWD certificate in the prescribed form from the Competent Authority empowered to issue such certificate. OBC certificate should be of a recent date with suitable mention about creamy layer. (Candidates with "Non-Creamy Layer Clause" certificate would be eligible for reservation as per Government of India guidelines). No original certificates should be enclosed with the application. The candidate's appointment will remain provisional subject to caste, tribe etc. certificates being verified through proper channel and verification of testimonials. The candidate's services will be liable to be terminated forthwith without assigning any reason in case the verification reveals that his/her claim for belonging to ST/SC/OBC/PWD/Ex- Serviceman and other testimonials is false. The Corporation also reserves its right to take such further action against the candidate, as it may deem proper, for production of such false caste certificates.
Candidates employed in Government / Quasi-Government / Public Sector Undertakings must apply through proper channel or produce 'No Objection Certificate' at the time of interview. Before appointment in the Corporation, a proper discharge certificate/Release Order from the employer will have to be produced. If the Application is required to be routed through the employer and in the process it reaches after the due date, it will not be considered even though submitted to the employer before the due date.
(v) All educational qualifications must have been obtained on or before the
cut off date i.e. June 30, 2008 from recognized Universities/Institutions in India. If grades are awarded instead of marks, candidates should clearly indicate its numerical equivalent.
(vi) Candidates can select only one centre for the Written Examination and
must indicate its name and code number in their application. In the event of cancellation of written test at any centre the Corporation may at its discretion, allot an alternative centre to the candidates concerned. Candidates admitted to the written examination will be intimated date, time and venue for the Written Examination, through online Call Letters (Please refer to Para 5 above). Candidates will not be admitted to the Written Examination without call letters. Request for change of centre will not be entertained.
The Corporation does not furnish the marks-sheet of selection process to candidates.
The Corporation reserves the right to raise/modify the minimum eligibility standards and/or relax age/experience criteria in otherwise suitable cases (Please also refer notes of para 2 above). In this regard, no separate notification would be issued by the Corporation.
Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. Any attempt to bring any kind of influence, political or otherwise, with regard to selection / recruitment shall result in summary disqualification of candidature. In all matters regarding eligibility, written examination, interview, assessment, prescribing minimum qualifying standards in written examination/ interview, in relation to number of vacancies and communication of result,
the Corporation's decision shall be final and binding on the candidates and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
Appointment of the candidate in the Corporation will be subject to Medical fitness and satisfactory Reference check.
Far Flung areas candidates are those residing abroad or in Andaman Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh division of J & K State, Lahaul and Spiti districts and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
(xii) The Corporation shall not be responsible for any postal delay. No
request/correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Duly filled in and signed print out of the system generated Application form along with all enclosures must be received on or before the last date as indicated above. System generated print out of applications received after the last date shall not be considered valid and Online Registration of such applications shall stand cancelled automatically.
(xiii) The candidate must retain the photocopy of the system generated
application print out, sent at the specified address for further reference.
A recent passport size colour photograph (without dark glasses) should be firmly pasted on the system generated print out of the application at the prescribed place and should be signed across by the candidate. Sufficient copies of the same photograph should be retained for use at time of Written Test/Group Discussion/ interview. Candidates are advised not to change their appearance till the entire recruitment process is over. Failure to produce the same photograph at the time of Group Discussion and/or interview may lead to disqualification.
Candidates selected are liable to be posted at / transferred to any of the offices of the Corporation, on appointment.
Candidates called for the Group Discussion/Interview will be reimbursed, on production of requisite tickets, to and fro actual return Second Class railway fare by the shortest route from the place of their residence to the place of Interview.
(xvii) Candidates should note that the courts/tribunals/forums in Mumbai shall
have sole and exclusive jurisdiction over disputes or claims, if any, in connection with this advertisement.
(9) How to apply: Eligible candidates are required to apply only ‘online’ through the Corporation's website. No other means /mode of application will be acceptable. Application should be filled in English only. However, option for use of Hindi will be available at the time of Written Test/ Interviews. Before registering their applications on the web site, candidates should possess the following:
The candidate must possess a valid e-mail i.d. for filling the application. In case the candidate does not have a valid e mail id he/she can create a new e-mail i.d. This e-mail i.d. should be valid for the duration of the recruitment.
A recent passport size colour photograph for pasting on print out of the application. The candidate should retain copy of the same photo to be pasted on the call letter for Written Test/Group Discussion /Interview.
