Clinical report of Jieyoushen (JUC) long-acting antibacterial
material on circumcision wound
Department of surgery, Pudong new district traditional Chinese Hospital, Shanghai
[Abstract] Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of Jieyoushen long-acting
antibacterial material(JUC) to circumcision wound. Methods 40 patients with circumcision
were divided randomly into two groups(control group and treated group), each consisting of
20 patients. For the control group, the patients were treated by mupirocin; while for the
treated group, JUC was sprayed on circumcision wound. Results There was no difference
in exudation of the wounds and wound edge response between two groups(p >0.05). Wound healing time of the treated group was shorter 1.75 days than that of the control
group. Side effects such as pain, itch, allergy, etc. were not found. Conclusion As for
circumcision wound JUC has the functions of isolating the wound, long-acting antibacterial
and accelerating healing of the wound. It is easy to apply on those parts of the human body
on which the traditional dressing is not easy to apply.
In my department we use JUC on the incision after circumcision. Comparing the wound with the routine treatment , we observe that if it could prevent infection , separate the wound surface, promote the wound surface to heal , have any side effect and how about the patients’ tolerant situation etc. Now report as follows: I. Clinical data Randomly chose circumcision patients 40 cases in my department, among them 20 cases were in the treated group, 40 cases were in the control group. Age : 55---64 years old. II. method and evaluative criterion 1 Method For the patients in the treated group, we sprayed JUC on the edge of the incision, twice a day, until the wound healed. For the patients in the control group, we used the traditional method (mupirocin ) to treat the edge of the incision, until the incision healed. 2 Evaluative criterion: (1) wound appearance: secretion, wound edge reaction (none—, mild ﹢, moderate ++,sever+++) (2) side effect: If have pain, itch, allergy etc or not. (3) outcome of wound surface: healing time (4) patients’ tolerance: none—, mild ﹢, moderate ++,sever+++ 1. Secretion comparison Table 1 1day after treating Treated group 20 20 0 0 0 Control group 20 20 0 0 0 P>0.05, there was not significant difference between the treated group and the control group. Table2 3 days after treating Treated group 20 20 0 0 0 Control group 20 17 3 0 0 P>0.05, there was not significant difference between the treated group and the control group. Table 3 7 days after treating Treated group 20 20 0 0 0 Control group 20 20 0 0 0 P>0.05, there was not significant difference between the treated group and the control group. Table 5 3days after treating P>0.05, there was not significant difference between the treated group and the control group. Table 6 7 days after treating Treated group 20 18 0 2 0 Control group 20 16 0 1 0 P>0.05, there was not significant difference between the treated group and the control group. 2 Side effect There was no such side effect as pain, itch, allergy etc in both the treated group and the control group. 3 Healing days comparison The average healing days in the treated group was 12.2 days, the average healing days in the control group was 13.95 days. The average healing days in the treated group was 1.75 days advanced than in the control group. 4 Auxiliary effect In the clinical observation, the wound in the treated group was drier than in the control group which was advantage to come off earlier for the wound edge scar, and having the cooperative effect to treat. IV. Discussion JUC is a kind of safe antibacterial material , it can form a layer of antibacterial reticular film on the surface of the skin, which consist of a kind of positive charge macromolecular active material, Its positive charge which has strong action to absorb the microorganism with negative charges such as bacterial, virus and fungi etc. Then these pathogen microorganisms will die of suffocation due to the fact that the enzyme on which they rely for respiration and metabolism is out of action, so it has the physical antibacterial function. Its reticular film has the function to separate the wound surface. As its special form, it can use on perineum and prepuce which the traditional dressing cannot be fixed, so it reaches such effect as separating the wound surface and antibacterial ,and also provides good condition for the infection controlled and wound healing. In this test, we sprayed JUC on the wound surface of prepuce and found that compared with the routine treated group, there was no significant difference about the secretion of the wound surface , wound edge reaction and healing days, but its wound infective rate and wound healing days decreased, and was better than the traditional treated method . There was no adverse reaction during the using period. V. Conclusion JUC has the function of separating wound surface and long—acting antibacterial, also can be used on the external genital and perineum which the traditional dressing can not be fixed. It is convenient and effective to be used, its wound infective rate and wound healing days decrease, and was better than the traditional treated method , so it is worth to spread widely.
