JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Program Coordinator Reports to: Renaissance SoMa Program Manager Location: Renaissance SoMa, San Francisco, CA
Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working to create sustainable economic development through small business ownership. At our four offices and remote program sites, we deliver high-quality business training support services to socially and economically diverse men and women starting and expanding microenterprises. Renaissance seeks a Program Coordinator to coordinate programs and services in our South of Market location, provide direct business consultations, provide classroom instruction, teaching assistance, recruitment, marketing, and events administration. This position requires someone who works well with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized and passionate about small business and entrepreneurship. The position also requires the ability to provide case management, work with consultants and instructors, write program reports and maintain strict timelines. The candidate will provide outreach assistance including class orientations and off-site presentations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day administration of the SoMa Business Planning class, working closely with
consultants, clients, and Renaissance staff.
Serve as initial point of contact with prospective clients, guide clients through application
process for referral to Renaissance services, provide intake, collect required paperwork.
Monitor the progress of client businesses, counseling sessions, data input and consultant
Conduct orientations to our services and facilitate introductory workshops; understanding
of curriculum and adult learning a plus.
Programmatic Support - Contribute to programmatic work as assigned including, but not
limited to, attending meetings, educating and providing grassroots outreach; communicating program policies and results to agency representatives, financial supporters and community members. Data input, client tracking and follow up. Administrative support for class and all programs.
Coordinate SoMa Programs events and trainings including scheduling, registration, materials,
facilities set-up, catering arrangements, marketing, media notification and event implementation
Assist Program Department in identifying needs and opportunities for expanding
Outreach: Assist with public outreach efforts, media events, donor events, and other types
of meetings. Conduct presentations at off-site locations. Identify new sites for presentations. Attend off-site meetings, networking events and staffs booths.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university program in Business
Administration, Public Administration, or related field, or the equivalent of three or more years of related community-based administrative experience
At least three years of demonstrated experience in business ownership, business consulting,
teaching, training business management and/or business development. Passion about entrepreneurship required
Knowledge of general business practices, applicable laws, ordinances and regulations related
to small business ownership and operations, and ability to convey these to emerging entrepreneurs
Ability to manage diverse client business cases, and to evaluate, motivate, and monitor
business consultants in multiple industries
Demonstrated capacity in assessment and evaluation, problem-solving and action-
orientation in successful administration of multiple/simultaneous projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strength in making presentations to
individuals and groups, and in writing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other materials. Ability to convey information to diverse audiences in constructive clear way.
Flexibility and comfort in a fast-paced, changing environment Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours. Occasional local travel to remote
Proficient in Gmail, Microsoft Office, and ability to work with data and databases. Marketing experience and Photoshop a plus.
